Why does my 17 year old not qualify Child Tax Credit?
Under prior law, no credit was allowed for dependent kids who were age 17 or older because they did not meet the definition of a qualified child.

Do I still get child tax credit if my child goes to college?
When your child goes to university they aren’t considered to be dependent on you, so you won’t be entitled to child benefit or child tax credit for them. You will need to inform both the Child Benefit Office and the Tax Credit Office that they’re going to university.
How much is family allowance per child UK?
There are two rates of child benefit. The allowance for an only child or the eldest child is £20.70 a week. For any additional children, the rate drops to £13.70 a week per child. Child benefit is typically paid ever four weeks on either a Monday or Tuesday.
