So, you may be wondering, “What happened to that trailer for The Return of American McGee’s Alice that was here a few days ago?”

Well…… Turns out that we, along with the rest of the internet, fell victim to a joke.

Quite a while ago, EA announced that a sequel to the underground hit American McGee’s Alice was in development. Since then, not much has been sad about the game; concept art and a few press releases here and there have been the only confirmation that the game is still in works.

A few days ago, a stop-animation teaser trailer surfaced on the internet, and eventually made its way to every major gaming website:

Exciting, isn’t it? Only downside is this: it’s not an official trailer. In other words, it has no affiliation with EA or American McGee himself. The trailer, as good as it is, is just an outside project.

…Talk about a slap across the face.

The site that hosted it no longer exists; instead, it’s now a link to American McGee’s response to the incident. Oh well. It was a good try.
