Nintendo Gives Us 3D Without 3D Glasses…On A Handheld

NOTE: The above is a very old joke. The post is about the Nintendo 3DS, a real and actual thing.

Wow. It has sure been a long time. Sorry everyone! I’ve been moving. Even now, I have no desk–keyboard is in my lap, and mouse is on a folder full of CDs. It’s actually kind of painful. But hey, I’m here, so let’s get this ball a-rollin’! You know, so I can go buy a desk somewhere…

Alright, are you ready for this? Nintendo has announced its next handheld, and it’s much more than just another version of the DS. Read more for the few (but juicy!) details!

Alright, so the working title for this thing is the 3DS. It’s supposed to allow for 3D gaming without the need for 3D glasses, and it’s supposed to be backwards compatible with all DS and DSi titles. You can get the .pdf of the official press release right over here. So, what do you think? Is this going to be some awful gimmick like the Virtual Boy? Or will Nintendo revolutionize things as they are so fond of doing? Tell us your deepest foresight in the comments!

Oh, and I probably won’t be posting too much until I get more furniture purchased and assembled, but that hiatus was long enough! Let’s get back to gaming news! Expect overdue coverage on this year’s Game Developers Conference soon!

Hmmmmm this seems interesting. But knowing nintendo, they will release two or three games i like, which is not worth buying a whole new console for.
Unless its Super smash bros and zelda together.

Mind telling me what the hell is the point of a DSi XL? I was kinda stumbling around and as a last resort I game to your “journal” . I know this isn’t what you’re talking about, but then again, there’s hardly any information on what you are talking about, so I dun cur.
Moving on. So what’s the point of it? It seems larger with no advance in the graphics, so what I’ve got is a DSi Senior Edition. Said graphics will look grainy and more pixely, streched out to encompass a larger screen. And also, I thought tinier was the trend? Did I miss another? Where large is coming back?

      I went from:
      Gameboy(large)
      Gameboy color (smaller)
Gameboy advanced (similar but on its side)
No one gives a damn about the micro.
      Gameboy SP (smaller)
      Nintendo DS (larger)
      DSi (smaller)
      DSi lite (smaller)
      DSi… XL (larger than DS)

There’s no real trend. And as you might know, Taciturn, is a trendy you-know-what (involves the word mother and a variation of lover). I wear ties with T-Shirts and drink Starbucks, while I reread the most recent twilight book that’s been made into a movie (Jacob is a total hottie). I would not purchase something I thought it was for individuals with a jar of hard candy somewhere in their foyer. Thanks in advance for clearing this up for me, I know you love clearing my vision on these cloudy subjects I choose to comment on.

      Ta-ta for the time being,
      Taci-

Seeing as how I am one of the 9 people that actually purchased a Virtual Boy, let me tell you that there is no way that the “3DS” could be that bad. For one its not in retina raping red. (A name which i will be sending to crayola for their next roll out of crayon color names.) and the DS is a solid machine. It has history. something the VB did not. As a side note VB sounds like a sexual disease. Anyway I have high hope for this.

    Can anyone read, anyone hear?

That I’m losing my patience, I just came here to bounce.

I can easily see a MGS game being made for this.
