I still don’t understand why that is the popular joke with all the reveals of Other M. Why is going back to side scrolling, the series’s beginnings, causing such an uproar?
From a logical/”Nintendo Fanboy” approach, I can see why going back to side-scroller would cause an uproar; people loved the Prime trilogy. Here’s the double-eged sword though: veterans to Metroid will enjoy returning to their side-scrolling roots with Other M, the newbies that started with the Prime trilogy will probably hate it…….for a few minutes.
Every time Nintendo launches a new console, they send a few games in to test the hardware, and then Samus Aran comes in and blows away everyone’s expectations. When the Nintendo Gamecube was announced, Nintendo also unveiled Metroid Prime, a legend among Gamecube games. There was quite a stir with that one; not only would Samus partake in a 3D game of her own, but this would also be the 1st of 4 FPS-style Metroid games. With the Wii’s release, the Prime trilogy was wrapped up, with excellence I might add, ending that trilogy.
I’m sure plenty of people wanted to see another FPS Metroid, but look- Metroid is a “Nintendo” game. Even though Other M is being co-produced by Team Ninja (hell yes), it still has old-school Nintendo written all over it. Not to mention; this year marks the 24th anniversary of the original Metroid. It’s only fitting that it would be a mash between the FPS-style gameplay that newcomers may enjoy, and the side-scrolling flare that us veterans were raised on.
Thus concludes my rant. (hey, I was raised on two things: Megaman and Metroid)
i have a suspicion that paper mario will also be making a cameo…

Because this is the internets. Welcome to them. Haha.
Can I feel welcomed?
I guess so, sure.
Before this turns into a spam thread:
