Make Something Unreal is, to my knowledge, the most epic (pun intended) mod competition out there. It’s already produced some of the coolest things you’ll see for a good long time.
Luckily for you, there’s already a lovely post from the good people at Rock, Paper, Shotgun on this very topic. It’s got four embedded videos and a bit of extra information.
As soon as I get around to buying Unreal Tournament 3, (which, on its own, is nothing compared to Unreal Tournament 2004) I’m jumping straight for Hazard: The Journey of Life and Angels Fall First: Planetstorm.
And of course, now I must ask your thoughts. Do we have any modders out there? Which of these mods would you most like to play? Or have you played them? Does a philosophical game like Hazard really count? Tell us in the comments!

Does it count for what? Hazard is as much a game game as it is an art game. One of the goals of the project is to demonstrate that that combination can work just fine. If it didn’t count, it wouldn’t be because of philosophy. It would be because it wasn’t any good.
I wouldn’t buy UT3 for it, considering it’s going to come out standalone later this year, and be way better. The same is true of a number of mods that made finalists. Many have been ported to the UDK and will be released as standalone commercial games.
Hey, thanks for commenting!
I really want to play the games that get released separately, but it would also be cool to play what’s available now. I very much agree that Hazard does count as a game, by the way. I just like to provide prompts for comments.
And hey, if I can get UT3 on the cheap through a Steam sale or something, I might as well add it to my collection.
Nah, it doesn’t ahve good graphics
