Chris Taylor Working On New IP, "Kings and Castles"

Chris Taylor, the legendary game developer behind incredible titles like Total Annihilation, Dungeon Siege, and Supreme Commander, has started releasing weekly video blogs to detail the development of Gas Powered Games‘ newest IP, Kings and Castles.

This video actually has very little to do with Kings and Castles, other than having Chris Taylor in it, but it is very funny. Hit the jump for extra info.

You can track the game’s development for yourself at the production blog, and check out this magnificent interview with lots of vague and sketchy information about the game over here, at Big Download. The most exciting part of the interview, though, I’ve quoted below:

We assume that a game that’s titled Kings and Castles will have both kings and castles in it. How will these two elements be incorporated into the game design?

The player starts out as a King. He builds his empire, and this includes his castle. This is not some small little structure, but instead a massive, towering work of art, and an intimidating strong hold. The scale of which nobody will have seen before, or even imagined they would see in a video game.

So there you have it! Enormous castles. I’ve enjoyed every game Chris Taylor has been at the helm of to date, (excepting Space Siege, as I haven’t played that one) so I’m excited. I mean, come on, have you not seen Supreme Commander? The sense of scale, the majesty, the purity of futuristic, machine-based combat–that’s what Supreme Commander represents, and it is beautiful.

I could talk about Total Annihilation or Supreme Commander for hours, though. Back on topic: what do you think of Kings and Castles? Are you a fan of Chris Taylor’s games? Did you laugh at the video? Talk to me, and you may be rewarded. WINK WINK NUDGE NUDGE.
