The Astringent Gaming Community Is Live!

…actually, it has been for eight days now. TAGJ’s very own form, The Astringent Gaming Community, is right here! Or you can just click “Forums” at the top of this very page! We have sections dedicated to BlazBlue, Guilty Gear, Monster Hunter, Starcraft, Starcraft II, Super Smash Brothers, Super Street Fighter IV, and Team Fortress 2 already.

Got a group or clan, but want more people to play with? Just start a thread!

If you play a game we don’t currently have support for, just ask for it!

We’re doing this so everyone can have more fun, so hop on over to the forum and get to posting! The community is small, but we’re all having a great time so far. We look forward to meeting you!

Q&A With CutMan Mike

In case you live under a rock, “CutMan Mike” Michael Hill happens to be the driving force behind such games as ZPortal, Ghouls VS Humans and Level Master. His most recent project, Megaman 8-Bit Deathmatch, is a new take on a classic, combining the fun of a free-for-all deathmatch FPS game with the retro quality of the classic 8-bit Megaman series.

Indiesplosion!: Episode I (February, 2010)

Hello again! Today I bring you my new bimonthly article based entirely on Indie games. Read the rest of this entry

John Krajewski and Martin Farren, project lead and tech director (respectively) for upcoming indie gameĀ Vessel, recently did a very insightful interview with Rock, Paper, Shotgun. Vessel is being made by Strange Loop Games, a very new studio. The first blog post on their site was on January 5th, but judging by how Vessel looks so far, I hope they’re around for a long time to come!

Hello to all! My name is Steven Gibbons (MasterOfOrigami) and I am The Astringent Gaming Journal’s newest video game reviewer. My specialty will focus on my love for Indie games. I will be bringing you games made by unknown companies and uprising stars. Sometimes the games I will review won’t be necessarily the definition of an Indie game but rather an offbeat gem that needs to be brought to light. I plan to make every review different in some way so we’ll just have to see what happens. I also intend to do more than review just a game, I’ll also look into the history of the company as well as some future projects to look forward to. Now this is my first review, go easy on me, and I’ll try to make it as fun as possible. So without further ado, my review for Beautiful Katamari for Xbox 360! Enjoy!
